Meno a Kwena is a beautiful safari camp located near Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in Botswana. It is an authentic, real African experience but most of all it is part of a concept that could work for all other African countries.

David Dugmore, the drive behind the project, combines all aspects of Africa in this unique project. Both nature and local people are involved in his attempt to learn Africans how to benefit from their natural surroundings in order to make a living.

What was done already and how does it work? Years ago, David started his camp on the border of the salt pans. He noticed that during the dry season, wildlife migrated more often to other overpopulated parks and thus he decided to build water holes to keep animals ( and tourists) in the area. As he already cooperated with the local people from the nearby town Moreomaoto, he also installed water pomps in the village itself. Slowly he started not only to employ people from the village in the camp but also to use benefits from the camp to improve the village. Hi Kristine, Great work that david has done in this community! I don't expect (unfortunately :-)) to come in Botswana coming time, otherwise I would be sure to go there!
